Zip Screen Outdoor Shades

A zip screen shade (also called a zip track screen or zipper screen) is an outdoor or indoor-outdoor roller shade system that uses a special side-track mechanism to keep the fabric tightly secured on all sides.

The key feature is the “zip” system: the edges of the fabric are locked into vertical tracks, so the screen stays stable even in wind and doesn’t flap or blow out of place.

 

How zip screen shades work

  • Fabric rolls down from a top cassette (housing box)

  • The sides of the fabric slide inside aluminum guide tracks

  • A built-in “zip” edge keeps the fabric anchored inside the tracks

  • Operated by:

    • motor (most common), or

    • manual crank in some systems
